Omar Noory is a versatile designer from Columbus, Ohio — if you ask him, he’s just “a stupid kid with a website”…but we know better. In addition to serving as half of the duo responsible for These Are Things (past feature here), Omar has some incredibly diverse design and illustration work in his personal portfolio. Perhaps most impressive is the stylistic variation of these two entities — his elegant and simple cartographic endeavors with These Are Things are radically different than the work exhibited in his personal portfolio, a true demonstration of the spectrum of Omar’s design ability.
A graduate of the Columbus College of Art & Design with a major in Graphic Design, Omar has a strong technical background that allows him to work within a variety of styles and mediums, ranging from highly complex digital artwork to hand sketches. His work for Mozilla is evidence of the former, with collateral pieces that include brilliantly composed geometric arrangements alongside simple-by-comparison distillations of its symbolic Firefox. Noory also exhibits work on an even simpler scale in his “Haters Gonna Hate” piece, an ink sketch that he eventually animated into a strutting .gif image. Truer words have never been spoken…but we love the work, so no worries there.
