Headquartered in the Windy City, Grip Design is a results-driven design agency that believes design is an investment, not an expense. Principals Kelly Kaminski and Kevin McConkey have developed their model around research and strategy, but realize that success — true success — is the product of their relationships. According to their website, Grip’s philosophy centers around the fact that “if you insist on working with great people — internally and externally — great work is the result”. Truer words were never spoken…
As an agency, Grip’s portfolio contains work in a variety of design industries including primarily interactive, branding, packaging, and print collateral. We were initially exposed to Grip’s work on a bit of a whim and on an empty stomach, at the ever-impressive Girl & Goat restaurant on Chicago’s Restaurant Row. Grip was entrusted with the brand development, messaging, print collateral, and promotional materials for the highly-awarded project. Needless to say, we loved the meal and love Grip’s work even more: satisfied would be an understatement. Upon researching the agency further, we found they were the masterminds behind many of the other brands that we know and love here in Chicago and beyond. Their work strikes a balance between the modern and nostalgic, resulting in timeless design work.
For more of Grip’s work, make sure to check out their elegant and simple website containing all the wonderful work we were unable to include in our feature. Grip can also be found on Facebook and Twitter, where they just cracked — and are holding at — the 1,000 follower mark! The design work is great, but I think the vast e-assemblage that is their Twitter audience merits the true applause…kidding.
