The 2011 Future Sole Competition is currently accepting submissions from high school and college students. The competition, which challenges student designers to develop concepts for Nike, Jordan, or Converse shoes, or graphics for Jordan apparel, runs through July 1. Finalists will be announced July 13 and online voting will take place August 19-21 to select the winners. The grand prize winners will be announced August 22.
The competition, which has been conducted annually since 2008, is actually several contests rolled into one. High school students can compete in two shoe design categories, Jordan and Converse. American college students can compete in one shoe design category, Nike. International college students get to try their hand at a shoe design for Jordan. And everyone, both high school and college students, can work up a Jordan t-shirt graphic design.
Five grand prizes will be awarded on August 22. The winners of the four shoe design competitions will have their design posted on www.futuresole.com, and receive $5,000 in computer equipment (in the form of a Powerbook and Wacom). The winner of the Jordan T-Shirt Graphic Design Contest will receive a Powerbook, and their design will be featured on the www.futuresole.com website.
For any high school or college student with an interest in shoe or sports apparel design this competition is an incredible opportunity. We would strongly suggest acting quickly as the competition is only accepting 1,000 entries in each of the categories.
