When most people think of 2004, the first thought that comes to mind is rice. Yes, rice. This versatile and delicious cereal grain caused quite the stir that year, so much so that the United Nations dubbed 2004 as the International Year of Rice. On a completely and utterly unrelated note, 2004 was also the year in which Chicago-based graphic design firm Arlo was established. Led by partners Ryan Halvorsen & Patrick Filler, Arlo has made their mark as a similarly versatile (and arguably delicious) powerhouse of Midwest design.
Arlo’s client list includes but is not limited to Nike, Effen Vodka, Itzy Ritzy, Sears, OfficeMax, Cherry Bomb, Cadillac, Sprint, University of Chicago, Mint Studios, Gate 39 Media, Apostrophe Brands, Hallway Records, [T-26] Type Foundry, Test Tube Productions, & American Eagle Outfitters. Collectively, we at Ballista Magazine are even more impressed with Arlo’s execution of colors and typography. Just a quick glance at the “Work” section of their website and these proficiencies are abundantly clear; it is a beautiful layout of beautiful layouts! In keeping with Arlo’s mantra, their website has “maximum heart; minimal fluff”!
Arlo also has some very nice things to say on Twitter, so make sure you follow them if you are tweet-savvy. Make EXTRA sure that you enjoy your weekend and keep it on the next level!
